Scott is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music as a performance major on trumpet. He has performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and for major shows and productions around Australia. He was the music director and drum major for World Expo 88. Scott was instrumental in developing one of Australia's most awarded and recognised school music programs at Alexandra Hills State High School in the 1990's.

Scott has been a conductor for the Queensland Youth Orchestra, Melbourne Youth Music Festival, Australian Winds, Australian National Children's Wind Orchestra, Australian Youth Wind Orchestra, Queensland State Honours Band, and the Australian Youth Orchestra. He has recorded albums and live radio broadcasts for the ABC and been a guest conductor and adjudicator at music festivals around Australia as well as Asia and the USA. Scott was a foundation staff member of Sheldon College and established the Music Program in 1997.

In 2001, Scott left Sheldon College and created the children's 3D animated series called FARMkids which is distributed to Disney and 35+ other territories around the world. Scott also owns production companies in Brisbane and Singapore which currently produce animation and live action content in Australia and Asia. Scott is a regular speaker in Australia and Asia on the key issues of "creativity and creative thinking in modern business'. He has also developed a portfolio of successful business interests in hotels and publishing. In 2007 Scott's company was awarded 'Creative Business of the Year' in the Brisbane Lord Mayor's Business Awards and they have been a finalist in the Premier's Export Awards. Scott returned to Sheldon College after 10 years in 2010 to work part-time with the Music Program again and this year will manage full-time the Performance Music Department of the Australian School of the Arts as well as manage the Marketing Department for Sheldon College.
