ARTS ACADEMY AWARDS COME HOME TO THE REDLANDS
The Australian School of the Arts recently celebrated their annual 'Arts Academy Awards' at the newly launched Sheldon Convention and Entertainment Centre amid spectacular fireworks, red carpet glamour and an amazing night of performances. Recognising the best of Sheldon College student works across all senior school art forms, the black tie event was held for the first time in the Redlands on Saturday 17 September after 6 years at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Student nominees from Visual Art, Music, Vocal Studies, Acting, Dance, and Film & TV all arrived in sponsored black BMW sports cars, and were interviewed as they walked the red carpet in front of more than 750 guests. Cosmopolitan Homes sponsored the incredible fireworks display which dazzled the big crowd. Guests then enjoyed a gourmet meal in the Sheldon Convention and Entertainment Centre, before settling in to watch an amazing night of performances, awards, and celebrating student artists. Performers in Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, and Jazz were delivered on a custom-built revolving stage and were backed up by a 70 piece Orchestra and 30 Voice Choir. "The night was simply incredible, and it is great to deliver this event right here in the Redlands" said Darren Harvey, Manager of the Australian School of the Arts at Sheldon College. "Students will remember this night for years to come" he added. Auditions are now underway and prospective students are coming from across South-East Queensland and also from as far as Sydney and Melbourne to audition for the Australian School of the Arts.
