Musicians show their best at the Ekka

On Monday 15 August, four bands from Sheldon College and the Australian School of the Arts (ASTA) participated in the Urban Upbeat competition at the famous Ekka show in Brisbane. Students from the Middle College performed in the Jazz Ensemble and Concert Orchestra, whilst senior musicians from the ASTA Jazz Orchestra and ASTA Concert Orchestra played a variety of jazz, pop and musical theatre pieces. There was a big crowd in attendance, with many Sheldon families making the most of the Redlands public holiday to attend.

All performers had a great time and many were also able to enjoy a free day out at the Ekka before and after their performance. The organizers were very complimentary about all the Sheldon College students, and they are keen to have us back in 2012. Great work to all the musicians and a special thanks to all the parents and families for their support.
