SCTV captures the Caxton Street Festival in all its Glory!

Our role as the official film crew for the Caxton St Seafood was to capture all the festival had to offer, and present it in a series of videos and photographs. This meant shooting the bands, seafood and wine and the wide array of people at the festival, hoping to capture some of the vibrant atmosphere Caxton Street had to offer.

On the day we arrived an hour before the festival opened to set up our gear and to plan out the long day ahead. Before the street became too busy we took the opportunity to get some interviews with several people involved with the festival. As the day went on the team often split up with one group capturing video and the other photographing the event.

Equipment used on the day was kept to a minimum so little had to be carried around the busy street. Our main camera on the day was a PMW-EX1. This was used with the interviews with a Sony shotgun microphone and a Sennheiser wireless microphone kit. We also had two Canon 60D cameras, which were primarily still cameras but doubled as video cameras still capable of full HD footage. These cameras were used more for the close ups of food and multiple angles for interviews etc. When the post production process began we decided to split the footage into three small videos, music, food and a general overview of the festival.

Each video was assigned to a group member with another assigned the job of creating some graphics and titles for all three videos. Once these videos were edited they were colour graded and were checked by several people before being sent to the client. At the end of the process we were able to deliver the client with a large amount of content. This included edited photos taken on the day and three individual videos.
